EXPLAINING MY PROJECT PROCESS

When we talk about "process" in the context of design, we're referring to the structured approach that guides us throughout a project. It’s the roadmap that ensures we’re aligned, expectations are managed, and we’re prepared if there are any unexpected detours. Staying organised helps the project to run smoothly, and allows me to deliver your designs on budget and on time, stress free!

Some of my clients have never worked with designers before, plus everyone does things differently. So, I always explain this at the start of projects so you know what to expect from working together.

Let me explain the process outline in some more detail for you…

Project set up

Introduction & Scoping Call:
We’ll discuss whether we’re a good fit, your project’s scope, outputs, approach, and vision. I’ll ask plenty of questions to ensure I understand your needs, helping me prepare an accurate quote.

Proposal:I’ll draft a proposal outlining the project, deliverables, budget, and timeline. Once we agree on the proposal, I’ll send a 50% commencement invoice to kick off the project.

Brainstorm/Workshop (if needed):For in-depth projects like branding, we’ll kick off with a workshop. I’ll send you a brand toolkit to complete first, then we’ll discuss your responses and ideate together. For simpler projects, we might skip this step, but I’m always keen to collaborate early on.

Development Stage

Initial Concepts:I’ll present rough ideas—whether that’s wireframes, storyboards, sketches, or moodboards. These give you a tangible sense of the design direction without being the final version.

Feedback:This is your chance to make sure we’re on the right track. Your input here shapes the next stage, so it’s crucial to speak up if something feels off.

Design Build

1st designed draft:I’ll take the agreed-upon concept and develop it into a full design. This stage only begins once all content is finalised and copy-checked.

Feedback:You’ll review the draft and suggest any changes to details like text styling, colours, or images. The core concept is now locked in based on your earlier feedback.

2nd designed draft:I’ll refine the design, incorporating your feedback.

Final Check:This is your last chance for minor tweaks or polishing before I export the design.

Final Design Delivery:I’ll deliver the finished design in your required format. Native files aren’t included by default but can be purchased at 35% of the project fee if needed.

Project Wrap-Up

Completion Invoice:Once you’ve received the files, I’ll issue the completion invoice.

Feedback Collection:I value your experience and am always looking to improve. I’ll send you a feedback form to fill out—your insights and suggestions are greatly appreciated and help me refine my process.

Thanks for taking the time to read more about the process, I hope to work together soon!
