A process driven graphic
designer & creative thinker...

...with a commitment to
playful curiosity...

...connecting and collaborating with ethical clients...

...to amplify impact through creative design.

Hi! I’m Immy Hunter — freelance designer & creative thinker.

I’m Immy — freelance designer (in fact, I prefer to refer to myself as a “creative thinker”) and founder of Impy Ink. I work with all sorts of clients doing good in the world, from charities and poets, to small businesses and environmental organisations. For nearly three years (Nov 2021 - August 2024), I was one of three designers at Noble Studio (an amazing studio which works solely for clients in the social and environmental impact sector). I’m lucky enough to have experience designing for a variety of impact clients and projects; from important environmental policy reports to medical explainer animations, to branding for natural conservation projects.

I’m all about crafting designs and solutions that spark curiosity, foster connection, and ultimately make people think or smile. Through a process-driven approach, I seek to teach my clients about the importance of design and how to use it effectively for positive change. I approach every project with an unwavering commitment to understanding the 'why?'—using it as a guiding compass throughout the design process. My work is characterised by creative problem solving, a belief in collaboration and incorporating elements of play and experimentation.

I’m always looking to connect with new clients and fellow creatives; lets chat ideas and see where it leads. Email me to book in an online introduction over a cuppa, so I can answer any of your questions!

What to expect from working with me:

    Curiosity—
“asking why?”

It’s in my nature to be curious, in all areas of life. I really believe that the best outcomes materialise when you ask as many questions as possible, and don’t assume anything. Starting with “why?”, (then asking that a few more times!) coupled with research, leads to a process driven design, rather than something that just looks pretty. It takes us down unexpected avenures, and helps to produce something with meaning and impact.
    Experimentation, creativity & play

Especially in the initial stages of a project, I bake in time for play and exploration. I love to explore key themes of a project, break them apart, put them back together. Let my mind wander, get outside to find inspiration, put pen to paper and get off the screen, then digitse it again. Freedom to explore brings out the richest designs. Plus, its the most fun and inspiring part of a project—so I relish that time!
    Collaboration
You are the master of your organisation or project, so at times, I like to put you in the shot-gun seat of my creative car! Working together, brainstorming, ideating and having feedback sessions help us to understand one another better, and make sure we are heading in the right direction. Workshops are a routine part of my creative process, where I create a structured session to learn more about your organisation, values and goals.

    Openness and Honesty

Successful designer:client relationships work on trust. I’ll always be honest with you, whether that’s about whats achievable with your budget, when scope creeps outside what’s agreed or whether I think your suggestions will work in a design. I want you to trust me to make decisions as your designer, and I recognise that is something that has to be built up by nurturing the relationship.
